Location:  Mudjin Harbour Beach is located in the Middle Caicos on the beautiful islands of Turks and Caicos. Located on Middle Caicos, this island on TCI is the biggest, however, the least inhabited with a population of only about 500 people.

How to get there: If you want to stay there, the Blue Horizon Resort is your best bet. With small, private quaint cottages and breath-taking views, you will feel like this is your very own private beach! The resort has a newly opened bar and grill as well.

If you will be doing a day trip from Provo, take the ferry and use a rental car. The “hidden beach” is located behind the Blue Horizon Resort. Take the stone pathway to the Circle of Hope past the praying hands statue to the hand chiseled steps that lead to the second staircase through the “cat” cave and out to the beach! You can explore and stop to have lunch at the Blue Horizon Resort.

If you visit during low tide, you will discover a natural sand causeway out to Dragon Cay. Dragon Cay is said to protect the island. It’s has a unique rock form shape as, you guessed it, a dragon! Remember when you are there, please do not climb on the rocks unless you want to get some nasty scraps and cuts. Ouchy!

There is also suppose to be a natural rock pool, however, the landscape changes quickly there, so no guarantee you will be able to find it. It was nine feet deep and currently, it is stated to only be four feet deep.

If you stay at the resort, it is recommended to use the grocery service. You can call it to the manager of the resort and it will be set up for you upon arrival. You may even bring some food from home that travels well. It is also suggested to bring bug spray for the mosquitoes and “no-see ums” at night.

Today starts our new weekly posts about hidden areas of interest for our beach lover readers. Today, we will visit Gold Rock Beach because we posted a photo on our Facebook page and had a reader interested in learning more about it. We love finding off the beaten path, hidden beaches and this one tops the list!

Gold Rock Beach is located on Grand Bahama Island in Lucayan National Park. It’s about 45 minutes from Lucaya and about an hour from the cruise pier. So, if you are taking a cruise, you may want to schedule some time to visit this hidden gem! It’s best to rent your own car so you can take your time exploring and return at your leisure.

If you go: There are no facilities located in the park. There may be an outhouse at the beginning of the trail before you head into the park. There is a $3-5 fee to enter this national park. You will find some picnic tables and BBQ pits. Please pack a nice lunch and drinks to take with you as there are no concessions here.

Be prepared to hike a quarter of a mile through mangroves to reach the beach. It is best to visit the beach at low tide to see the beautiful rippled sand that happens from the low tide. The beach offers clear waters and you will be able to see stingrays and more. Remember, please do not remove any natural wildlife from the Park as it is against the law!

If you like caves, across the street from this beach is the Lucayan Caverns, one of the world’s longest underground cave systems. Be sure to bring sturdy shoes for exploring these exquisite wonders.
